Character Creation Codes and Appearance

Quick Answer

An Appearance ID loads a character design. Open Import Appearance in the character editor, enter the ID, and choose Identify to preview it before applying changes.

On this page

A Monster Hunter Outlanders character creation code is an Appearance ID. In the character editor, open Import Appearance, enter the shared ID and choose Identify to preview the design. It is separate from a gift code entered in CDKey Redemption.

The workflow below reflects launch-guide information reviewed on November 1, 2026. No shared ID or paid appearance change was tested in a game account for this guide. This page explains the import process; it does not present a collection of tested character codes.

Reach the character editor

Initial character creation becomes available after the opening story sequence. It customizes your Fated Adventurer, including body type, hairstyle, facial features and appearance. Importing an ID is a shortcut for a design, not a way to recruit a named Adventurer or acquire that character's combat kit.

For an existing character, launch coverage describes an Appearance Voucher route: obtain the item through Shop → Exchange → Item Exchange, open the Pouch from the main menu, use the voucher, and choose an existing or empty appearance set. Confirm the current menu labels and displayed cost before buying anything.

Import an Appearance ID

  1. Ask for the actual Appearance ID or the exported image containing it. A character's name or a picture without its ID is not the same input.
  2. Open Import Appearance in the character customization menu.
  3. Enter or paste the ID, preserving its characters and removing accidental spaces.
  4. Choose Identify to load the design for inspection.
  5. Check the face, hair and other visible changes before proceeding. A successful preview is the relevant check that the editor recognized the design.
  6. Read the current confirmation screen and any voucher requirement before you save and apply it.
Import Appearance screen with an Appearance ID field and Identify button

The ID field and Identify control belong to the appearance editor, not to the gift-code event.

A preview does not establish that the final change is free. Launch coverage says an Appearance Voucher is consumed when changes are saved and applied. Treat that as a reason to inspect the confirmation carefully, rather than assuming every editor operation is covered by one voucher.

Share your own character design

The Share control at the top right of Edit Appearance creates a downloadable image containing the character and its Appearance ID. Use that exported card when you want someone else to reproduce the design without manually copying each slider.

Exported character appearance card with an Appearance ID

An exported design card includes the ID. Its presence in this illustration is not a current validity test.

Check that the ID is readable before sending the image. When asking another player to try it, identify Monster Hunter Outlanders and your regional client. A code from Monster Hunter Wilds or another game is not an Outlanders appearance entry, and cross-service compatibility is not established here.

Choose the correct change item

The item panel helps distinguish the Appearance Voucher from a Rename Card. The current in-game price takes precedence over the pictured value.

When an ID fails to load

Check the input before spending currency. Copy the ID again from the original export rather than retyping an unclear character from a compressed image. Confirm that you are using Import Appearance, that the design was created for Outlanders, and that you selected Identify.

If the editor still rejects it, keep the exact message and ask the creator which service and client they used. Do not assume a rejected ID needs a purchased voucher: the import problem and the payment needed to apply a change are different steps. No universal error-code list or cross-region guarantee is established for this workflow.

If you wanted currency rather than a face preset, use the gift-code redemption guide. For the difference between the customizable protagonist and recruited characters, use Fated Adventurer versus gacha characters.
